Hollo sworn in as new Police Chief

Brian Hollo was sworn in as Murphysboro’s new police chief at the Public Saftey Committee meeting on Monday, November 18, 2013.

Hollo, 54, is from Litchfield. He retired from the Illinois State Police after 27 years in 2010.  Hollow was selected from 16 applicants by the Mayor and three members of the city council.

“He was just the best of the group,” Mayor Will Stephens said.

Since retiring from the ISP, Hollo has worked as a traveling instructor for the Advanced Driving Training Services.

Acting Chief Ed Reiman will keep that role through Dec. 1, Stephens said, to allow Hollo time to get moved and settled. On Dec. 2, Hollo will take the reins. The mayor also said Reiman has always seen himself as more of “an Indian, not a chief” and did not apply for the chief position.
